Do You Live on YouTube like Me?
I could literally live in my pj’s on my couch watching YouTube videos, with silly cats and funny kids but, I decided to take my love for YouTube and “CHANNEL” it somewhere else important…(see what I did there) I am a visual learner as most Graphic Designers I know are and there are very useful informative videos just for US! That’s right! We can actually learn from others! Yes, being a Graphic Designer you must be willing to expand your creative skills to improve your work. When I want to learn a new skill in Illustrator, Photoshop, or in just Graphic Design life in general, I watch videos from great You tuber’s that have experience in something I am struggling with or experience in something that I have never done before. I have compiled a list of the 6 of my favorite useful YouTube Channels that you may or may not benefit from. These are not in any order so I’m just going to start listing.
1.) Swerve Designs
This is a great YouTube channel to follow when it comes to learning new things in Illustrator. They have tons of tutorials, from letter design to logos. Swerve Designs incorporates interesting music and their voice overs are not too annoying, nor sounding like the eye guy in the Clear Eye’s commercials. They have a good following and are posting content regularly.
2.) Roberto Blake
Roberto Blake is a pretty cool guy. He has a lot of experience and doesn’t just show tutorials. He has videos on other things Graphic Design related, like how to market yourself as a freelance designer and other life tools. Roberto also is kind of like a Graphic Designer motivational speaker. His videos can help inspire and get your creative gears running. He has good following and is posting content regularly.
3.) Peter McKinnon
Peter McKinnon has a great YouTube channel, not only is his content way different from Roberto’s but its hip and always on trend. He provides different and interesting videos, with Hacks and other social media tips. He is pretty funny and engaging in his videos and he edits them really well. His information is great. It doesn’t feel like you are learning things while watching, but you are! He also has good tips for photography as well. Peter has a good following and updates content regularly.
This YouTube channel has some great tutorials on really cool skills for design. They have all types of tutorials and are mainly tutorial based videos. The voice of the channel is not bad to listen too. They have a lot of content and a good follower base.
5.) Arunz Creation
This is a great YouTube channel for Photoshop. Some channels focus on a particular skill and I love this channel for editing pictures and other tools in Adobe Photoshop. This is ONLY a good channel if you are a monkey see, monkey do type of learning. It only shows what the artist is doing in Photoshop. There is NO COMMENTING in this channel that I have seen, but it can help to create some amazing image content for things like magazines and brochures or picture art in general.
Liam’s channel has a slew of topics. He has videos on how to land jobs in the graphic design field as well as funny relatable videos. This channel is proof that you can have a good personality and still bring professional advice to the table. This is probably one of my favorites.
Hope you enjoyed and could add one of these to your subscribed list. See ya soon!
